Road is subject to flooding in heavy rains, to the south of recently completed (?) roadworks

Reported anonymously at 16:44, Mon 27 July 2020

Apologies if you've received this already, but I received no acknowledgement. Earlier this year roadworks were carried out on the A508 through Maidwell to cure flooding to the north/centre of the village. Unfortunately this has made the flooding problem worse at the south end of the village. The problem starts at the Loder Hall (where the works stopped) and continues to Blueberry Lane. There have now been 3 occasions since the works were completed when heavy rains have made access to the Loder Hall, Burrowdale and Church House impassable. The photos show the flooding after the rain had stopped on Saturday 25th July. There is a manhole cover in front of the Loder Hall and its lid lifts and water gushes out. Further, the adjacent gully and the two gullies further south seem unable to cope with the volume of water. This problem was noted DURING the works and was discussed with the site supervisor (beard). This was when a water main was damaged further north and sandbags were needed around the Loder Hall manhole cover (and yours truly had to create a gravel bund in front of the hall to prevent water getting into the airbricks). At that time I was told that the existing pipes and gullies would be thoroughly cleaned but, to the best of my knowledge, this has not been done It seems to me that this job has only been half done and has just shifted the problem south. I look forward to it being completed properly. Thank you
