Ungritted road - Causing accidents - risk to pedestrians

Reported anonymously at 11:16, Friday 22 January 2021

The entire length of Northampton Road is not gritted - There is no warning of this. In the area hilighted, it is shaded for long periods of the day. Frost and ice forms and has led to a number of traffic accidents causing some damage to vehicles and property - if a pedestrian was present at the time it could be far worse. This issue is made worse due to the speeds people take both leaving the village from the gritted roads and worse, coming into it from Red House junction and then trying to slow down on this ungritted area. As the road narrows, it is on a unsighted bend, is shaded, has vehicles lawfully parked which narrow the road, and there is only a single footpath which is very exposed to the dangers, this leads to higher risk. Could either signs be added showing the roads are not gritted or ideally this road is gritted, at least to the 30mph delimitation signs exiting the village. This issue is present every time the temperature drops below freezing, especially if there is snow or rain at the same point. The issue with excessive speed in this are is present at all times in both directions.
