Road Signs unreadable

Reported by Mr. AC Buck at 13:36, Thu 8 July 2021

I travel between Wellingborough and Kettering each day. First, I congratulate you on being more focus on the needs of wildlife, by not mowing the roadside soft verge more than a metre in from the road. Therefore, allowing wildlife to make their homes in hedges, trees, and bushes beside the road to thrive. For the first time I have seen Muntjac deer by the roadside, instead of just in country parks. Unfortunately, this has resulted in more roadkill, but I suppose that is a good sign the policy is working. However, your management teams responsible for maintaining our County's roadsides, appear to have forgotten about the needs of Driver’s to be able see the Road Signs. Not everyone uses a Sat Nav. Many smaller instructional Road Signs (i.e. Round & Triangle shaped) are totally obscured. With most larger square & rectangular information signs giving direction are more than three-quarter covered. It impossible to read them even when level with the sign. It not a problem for me, being local. However, I can understand it would be a problem for people who are not local or are first time drivers. I suggest you get a team together to prune roadside trees and bushes, ensuring all road signs are visible from at least 50 metres away. Surely this must be a H&S issue? I did reported this was starting to be a problem summer of 2020. However, since nothing was done then. We now have two seasons of growth to deal with (2020 & 2021) and the problem is much worst.
