Road flooding on Silver Street Reported anonymously at 09:18, Wed 1 September 2021 For about the past two years there has been a continuous water discharge on the road in Silver Street Walgrave close to the footpath at Lower Green. This has previously been reported and no action has been taken. Anglia Water have investigated this problem and have confirmed the water is not from a household source or drain. There are numerous natural water springs in the area and this could be the possible cause. In the winter it freezes and is a dangerous hazard to both vehicles and pedestrians. Last winter two ladies slipped and fell over on the ice. Now there is a lot of green algae collecting on the road surface by the footpath at Lower Green, as shown in one of the attached photos. This makes using the footpath both dangerous and hazardous. If this problem is being caused by a spring then surely it could be diverted by Highways Maintenance into a nearby road drain which is shown in one of the photos. As mentioned earlier this matter has been reported previously yet no action has been taken. The dangerous and hazardous condition of this area of road should not be allowed to continue any longer. I would ask that this matter now receives prompt attention before the winter causes further problems.
