Footpath obstructed by overgrowing vegetation.

Reported by Lois Margaret Johnston at 17:31, Wed 6 October 2021

The hedge bordering the length of Pytchley Drive has been becoming more overgrown over a long period of time. 20+ years ago the upper part of this hedge was maintained by the adjoining school but when this arrangement ceased, the hedge deteriorated and began to spread over the verge and increase considerably in height, causing the footpath to become virtually unusable. At the top end, the Laurel, now around 20 feet high is leaning on the school fence which could cause a security problem for the school. It is also encroaching on the adjoining property. The problem has been reported to the local Parish Council in the past few years, which has done its best within its financial constraints. However, the problem is getting worse - practically the whole length of the footpath from the junction to The Leys to the top of Pytchley Drive is unsafe for all pedestrians and the upper half is unusable for the very elderly residents of the top cul de sac due to moss, decaying leaves, falling vegetation and overhanging branches. We would be most grateful if the relevant authority could give this problem priority before it becomes completely out of hand.
