Signage needed for new traffic lights
Reported in the Damaged / Missing / Facing Wrong Way category anonymously at 09:36, Fri 29 March 2019
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways 4 minutes later. ref: 1587791.
New traffic lights on A605 at Barnwell Mill junction are not signposted on the approach. When the lights change suddenly, lorries and cars unaware of the new lights and road layout are having to brake hard. I have watched this happen on numerous occasions and heard the brakes too. There are very obvious brake marks on the road surface. New road layout warning signs are needed on the approach to help prevent this and potential collisions.

I had a near miss last night when turning right out of the Barnwell Road onto the A605 at the green light. A car coming north on the A605 from the Thrapston direction failed to stop at what I assume was a red light for him. I don't know if he jumped the light or didn't see it but in any case I had to brake. Signposts are needed on the approach, if not a reduced speed limit.

I live on the corner of A605/Well Lane at Barnwell. I have serious concerns about the new traffic lights at the Barnwell Road/A605 junction about 200yds from here. There is inadequate overlap on the lights. This, coupled with a tendency for fast-moving A605 traffic to ignore the amber is going to cause a serious accident. 'New Road Layout' and Traffic light warning signs need to be put out on the A605 - even temporary signs would help (they were provided during the installation work and removed immediately afterwards). PLEASE do something urgently before there is a major pile-up.
