Illegal gates blocking this road towards airfield

Reported in the Potholes / Highway Condition category anonymously at 03:59, Fri 12 April 2019

Sent to Northamptonshire County Council 1 minute later. ref: 1601249.

These gates have been put across this old approach road to the airfield, and reported numerous times. Is any progress being made so the public can access it again? I have not seen any change in the situation or notices saying it has an order saying it has one on it.

  • I have reported this numerous times and no action has been taken. Action is needed as people that used it for dog walking and other activities cannot access this area. I wish you would send this on as I've notified them through Street Doctor and everything is the same!!

  • I have reported these gates, that are illegally blocking this public road numerous times to FixMyStreet . NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE! Not reporting it to the County Council doesn't solve anything, just makes it worse. There are several members of the public that are annoyed that they can let their dogs have a run, and free access along this stretch of traffic free road! Why? Because the person who deals with these matters keeps diverting the argument. They do not acknowledge that it is open to the public or even if they've a right along there. Why? The Northants Local Access Forum meets soon and I will bring it up again with the Secretary, who will take it further. I am also a Local Foot-path Secretary and have brought it to the notice of Nick Wedgebrow the path inspector for the area,of the problem. Nothing has happened! Around ten years ago I contacted the Police about a trailer slung across the road too, but nothing much has been done. So I am going to ask the NCC ( Keir wsp) about the problem, through a FOI request, then if it's then ignored,it's the police. I'm sick of asking and getting fob offs. The last time I went to the Police, the "adviser" got in a temper and we had an argument. A police officer came and we discussed it, I didn't agree with what he said, Laws that don't exist cannot be enforced! Mr R.J. Martin..

  • Can you please contact me about what is going on with this long outstanding problem! I've reported it numerous times, and haven't had any movement on the illegal gates and the notices saying it is a private road.Don't send it on to Nick Wedgbrow as it isn't a footpath/bridlepath/or byway,so he doesn't deal with it.ACTION PLEASE ! Who should sort it out. If nothing is heard by me within 10days,I will contact the police. It is a criminal offence to block a public highway.

  • The situation is still exactly the same and nothing has been done. Does this now mean anyone who thinks they have a problem with security can now put up gates? Of course not! How an earth is Mr Vaughan allowed to get away with this for so long?
