Traffic light issues
Reported via Android in the Road Markings - Worn/Faded category anonymously at 20:38, Thu 25 April 2019
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways 2 minutes later. ref: 1613077.
The white stop lines need re painting to encourage drivers to stop closer to the traffic lights so the sensor detects their vehicle. I regularly see people waiting ages for the lights to change because they stop too far away from the sensor.

You say it will be repaired within the next twelve months but drivers are going through red lights because they assume the lights aren't working as they aren't changing.

My daughter has just phoned me very embarrassed having caused a traffic jam at these lights until s police officer like myself explained she needed to drive closer to the lights to activate the sensor.

Twice today I've had to get out of my car when in a queue and tell drivers to move closer to the traffic lights.

I had the same problem last night. Police car behind me, I didn't know whether to go through the loght because it was broken or just keep waiting. The police officer got out and came to tell me to move forward, it's so embarrassing and the police officer said he had to do this at least once a shift sometimes more. This is disgusting to have a fault right outside a police station.

Yesterday I watched some eventually give up and drive through on a red light. If I deal with any accidents there I will inform those involved this issue has been reported and to seek compensation for negligence from highways for not sorting it

I can only confirm what others have said above. The sensors have been placed far too close to the lights and white lines. It’s my opinion that the sensors need moving several metres as the current white lines and sensors are too close to the traffic lights causing people to naturally sit back so they can see the light thus not activating the sensors.
People are still driving through red lights on a regular basis.
