Road flooding in storms
Reported in the Blocked/Damaged category by John Thomason at 11:35, Tuesday 25 June 2019
Sent to Northamptonshire County Council 6 minutes later. ref: 1673594.
There are 6 side inlet gulleys on this low section of the road, which are all blocked. I have cleared the inlets of the drains, which makes no difference. I have checked one which is at least 4 feet deep and is full of sludge, so the drains need sucking out and clearing. As you will see from the photograph, this floods across half the road, which is dangerous as cars either pull over to avoid it, or they can get knocked off course if they hit the water without realising. This is not just a nuisance, but it is a danger to life as there have been two fatal accidents in the stretch of the road in the last two years. I hate hearing about fatal accidents so I hope you can deal with this. John Thomason, Flore flood warden.
Thank you for reporting a fault on the highway. We will use the information you have provided to assess and prioritise this fault in accordance with our published response times for fault reports.

This is getting dangerous and needs urgent attention. The last 48 hours it has flooded more than half way across. Please attend urgently.

This section of road is due to be cleansed as part of the A-Road Gully Cleansing Program within the next two weeks. All the gullies along this section will be cleansed which will alleviate the drainage issues here. If in the mean time you feel any standing water in this location is causing a hazard to users of the highway please contact the Duty Manager on 01604 883400 who will arrange an emergency cleanse ASAP.
