Overgrown and no clear path marked
Reported in the Passage-Obstructed/Overgrown category anonymously at 16:59, Wed 3 July 2019
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways 1 minute later. ref: 1683560.
Path GT1 heads south from Mill Hill to pass underneath the railway line. The first part is clear through the crop field but the area under the bridge is overgrown. Hidden rubble there also makes walking difficult. Once you get south of the bridge, the path turns south west alongside the A43. This area is becoming increasingly overgrown and there is no clear path any longer. It's difficult to walk through for a human but almost impassable for a dog because of the nature of the nettles, weeds and prickly stuff!

But this SHOULD ALREADY be on the mowing schedule. The path to the north of the railway line is properly maintained but this lower section was rerouted when the A43 was built. Concerns were raised at the time about this right of way being maintained and now those concerns are realised. The original contract to maintain these paths has apparently now expired and no-one is picking up the maintenance. At present, the only way to access the public rights of way to the south of the A43 is to walk a couple of miles down the country roads toward Newton and Geddington, because the footpaths are inaccessible at the Great Oakley end. Instead of a safe path across the fields, walkers have to dodge traffic on narrow country roads.
