Traffic cones but no work appearing to take place causing significant delays

Reported in the Potholes / Highway Condition category anonymously at 15:07, Thu 4 July 2019

Sent to Northamptonshire County Council 4 minutes later. ref: 1684706.

Why have both sides of the A43 going to the A14 at Kettering have traffic cones out since Monday 1 July. There are no workmen, or works ongoing as far as can be seen but it is causing significant delays. How much longer will they be there?

  • This work is causing complete stand stills at 5pm on work days backed up on the roundabout and Telford Way Ind Est. No works seems to be taking place and its saying on the works are planned for three weeks to fix a barrier. If anyone else wants to apply to do works in Highways we get given working restrictions but because its the council doing the work it seems these rules dont apply.

  • Unfortunately the Vehicle Restraint Barrier in the central reservation has been damaged beyond repair by a vehicle collision, this has unfortunately meant that a speed restriction and lane closure had to be implemented in the interest of safety. These lane closures have now been removed and a section of Temporary Vehicle Restraint Barrier has been installed. The permanent repair/replacement of this barrier will commence within the next week at which point the temporary speed limit will be lifted. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
