2 potholes including exposed drain in 1
Reported in the Loose / Raised/Sunken category anonymously at 14:03, Tue 9 July 2019
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways 3 minutes later. ref: 1690080.
The location: The ‘Finedon Station Road’ that joins Burton Latimer to the A509, the incident took place around 12:00 (midday) on the 08/07/19
As you can see there are two potholes in close proximity that caused separate damage to the vehicle.
Potholes: First pothole – Approx. 2m in length, 25cm in width and 8cm in depth Second pothole – Approx. 40cm in length, 25cm in width and 8cm in depth with a manhole cover forming the perimeter.
Incident: After a right hand bend the driver took evasive action to avoid the first pothole with the front wheels and as there was a car traveling in the opposite direction had to take the ‘inside’ track of the pothole. This then resulted in the second pothole then becoming in the path of the vehicle with no time to move/react. As the driver tried to avoid the first pothole the rear wheel ran down the ‘edge’ of the pothole damaging the wheels face (no tyre damage present on this wheel’ then as the front nearside wheel entered the second pothole the tyre received a approx.. 4cm slice to the side wall with also a cut to the sidewall and facial damage to the wheel in several places.
