Double yellow lines stop very close to the pedestrian/cycle crossing
Reported in the Obstruction (Not Vegetation) category anonymously at 10:56, Fri 12 July 2019
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways 5 minutes later. ref: 1693912.
The double yellow lines in this location stop so close to the pedestrian and cycle crossing that when vehicles park up to use the burger van the view to cross is severely restricted. The vehicles are clearly parking within the designated parking area so no fault can be put on them - with the exception of the white van - the fault is with the fact that there is not a larger space before the double yellow lines stop. Please make this a safer crossing for pedestrian and cycle traffic! This situation was reported last year (2018), the update given was that parking at this crossing would be reviewed this year (2019). Has this review happened yet? If not, when is this review due to happen please? Many thanks in advance for providing a safer crossing.

I simply don't understand how these vehicles being allowed to park so close to this crossing resulting in a severely restricted view for anyone wishing to cross a three lane road directly off a dual carriageway does not pose a risk. Were there any large vehicles parked in this location when the risk assessment was performed? Were the needs and/or requirements of our most vulnerable footpath/cycle path users taken into consideration during this risk assessment? I've attached photos to this report so that you can see the view one gets when trying to cross. The nearside vehicles are stationery, frequently with engine idling, therefore potentially ready to pull off just as a pedestrian/cyclist has stepped into the drivers blind spot to see around the vehicle. Please reconsider this decision and make this a safe crossing for all who may wish to use it. Thank you.
