Footpath issues
Reported in the Sign/Waymarking - Damaged/Missing category by John Hunt at 18:14, Fri 19 July 2019
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways 1 minute later. ref: 1702457.
1. Footpath DP2; Starting at Yew Tree Lane end and going over first style into field, you cannot see where the next style is in the east west hedge as there is no indication or post on it . This style is also flimsy and needs replacing. 2. Footpath DP3; Is overgrown and blocked where it meets the A5199. 3. Footpath DP7 crosses with DP5 at the Teeton Road. There is no post indicating the two footpaths in the field though there is one post by the road. There may be a broken post in the hedge on the field side. 4. Footpath CY9 needs new arrows on the post in the field as they have faded. 5. Footpath CY5; Why does it not continue to meet with CX8 and CX1 at Holdenby North Lodge on the Definitive Plan as it is shown as part of MacMillan Way on the Ordnance Survey map. 6. There is a long standing need expressed very often by villagers and other walkers and cyclists, for a footpath by the Brixworth Road between the village and Brampton Valley Way. The road is highly dangerous for walkers, cyclists, horse riders and wheelchair users. The footpath would be the final link between Brampton Valley Way National footway (BVW) and the MacMillan Way as there is a footpath from Spratton to Teeton where the MacMillan way runs. The are several policies in the Rights of Way Improvement Plan 2018 to 2028 (RoWIP) which support exactly this kind of opportunity for expanding the network for example clause 3.3 says "Improve and where possible create new links to provide sustainable inter-village links to local communities and places of interest. " There is a footpath from BVW to Brixworth. There is a very extensive programme of development of housing in Brixworth which inevitably means that more and more people would benefit from a more extensive network which linked to other villages. This would carry out policy 4.1.1 of the RoWIP which says "Create a Safe Joined Up Network". "NCC continues to aspire to grow the rights of way network and create new routes that compliment the existing routes"
