Maintenance of the highway, (excluding Major A roads and motorways) including road service, signage, drainage and infrastructure IS the responsibility of the COUNTY COUNCIL NOT the district council.
The legislation controlling this is contained within the Highways Act 1980

NCC has NO INTEREST AT ALL in minor roads like this, despite under the highways acts, they are legally responsible for things such as reported. They tried to say the issue is one of district council to sort out who has inturn told me it is a county council issue. Mean time, customers and delivery drivers can not find our workshop on Gypsy Lane.

Neither Northampton County Council or East Northants council have any desire to fix this issue. They claim the other is responsible, passing you off between pillar and post.
Mean wile, people trying to find our workshops and farm are unable to locate Gypsy lane as the road name sign post is missing

Both Northampton County Council and East Northants council have refused (in writing) to fix this issue. They both claim (in writing) that the other is responsible, passing you off between pillar and post. Mean wile, people trying to find our workshops and farm are unable to locate Gypsy lane as the road name sign post is missing.
I have given up any hope of getting this issue fixed!

I am sorry that you have not been able to resolve this matter. The sign required is a Street Name Plate, and oddly enough this does not fall within the remit of highway maintenance. Under the Public Health Act 1926 district/borough councils have a duty to ensure that all streets can be easily identified. I have emailed East Northamptonshire Council to request a new street name plate here. I trust this will be replaced in due course.
