Repeat request for repair of pathway which is causing damage to a private fence and the communication box alongside.
Reported in the Slabs - Uneven / Damaged / Cracked category anonymously at 08:01, Thu 8 August 2019
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways 4 minutes later. ref: 1724338.
As above - I will continue to upload the images I have taken today.
We would appreciate a Street Doctor representative to contact us to arrange a meeting to discuss why this case has been closed twice. We would also like an explanation asto why the work that was completed was in a small area and basically tarmacced over an old tree.....

We have cleared the weeds twice in order for you to fix. These weeds are no longer on our side of the fence due to gardening work we have completed. These plants are on public land.
When we do attempt to tidy the area, the tarmac is so loose that it comes free with the weed root.

These are images from the interior side of the fence to show the damage (and previous build construction) of the pathway behind the communications box.
There are visible chunks of tarmac on our gravel pathway and there is now a considerable hole in this area.
We have attempted to shore up the base of the fence but cannot do so completely until the tarmac is repaired.

These are further images from the inside - one to the int left of the gate showing more fallen tarmac, the second is another of the hole behind the comms box.
Each area has had a temporary fence repair placed in order to attempt to block the increasing holes.
These show the layers of tarmac and the erosion damage to the path.

View of the pathway at the corner of Dunkirk Avenue and Ise View Road - as you can see there are several areas that have perished with plant life appearing alongwith lifted areas of previously 'fixed' roadworking.
This also shows the small area that was 'retarmacced' on the last visit by the Street Doctor crew.
You can also see an area of remedial fence repair - this has now been forced backwards by the newly added tarmac.

These are the last of todays images, and a repeat of the freshly 'repaired' area at the telegraph pole.
This is the view from Dunkirk down towards Ise View Road and the telegraph pole just around the corner.
It is clear that the tarmac has been added roughly to the rear of the pole - there was an old tree trunk in this space, I would be interested to know if this was removed before the repair was added. The front of the pole has been left with pathway erosion - this strikes me a pointless fix as the eroded areas will affect the looser, newer tarmac at the join point...
It also looks terrible - I cannot believe your staff were happy with their work when completing this job.
Again, please arrange for a member of this department to contact us to discuss a proper fix to the public pathway that has eroded and is now damaging our private fence. There is only so much we can do before the pathway collapses into our recessed front garden.
Many Thanks,

This is a repeat of the previously reported case which has been ignored since July 1....
'Tarmac around fence of 145 Dunkirk avenue all breaking away making holes under fence and weeds growing out. Cannot updat'

Please read both cases and view all images.
I'm sure you can recognise how frustrating this is for us, as well as dangerous when accessing our property.

Hi Ian Smith,
I was clearing some of the weeds before recycling last week in order to tidy up our frontage to again allow you to see how damaged the area is that has not been fixed. It now transpires that the telecoms cable is visible as the loosely packed tarmac has been loosened and removed by weeds.
This is a hazard and does need fixing.
You can see the spray used by your staff on one of your visits before you eventually fixed the bit by the telegraph pole.
I am unable to ring, but there is someone in the house most days - you are welcome to visit and assess the damage before arranging a date to complete the work.
Many Thanks.

Afternoon...
Thank you for coming to 'fix' this problem, however as noted on a new report (the original report has been marked as fixed and will not support updates..) there are areas that have been missed, and the replaced tarmac is already lifting and caused futher damage to the private fencing.
There is still a big hole behind the communications box - is this yourselves or BT Openworld who will fix this?
The second image is layers of previous tarmac and then newly laid substance on top - all falling behind the fence onto private property. Like an old tree, it is interesting to see the different layers of maintenance, but it does show the years of neglect!
The third image shows how the tarmac has been pushed up against the private fence, causing more damage, and also the untidy loose edging of the substrate which has been tossed over the fence corner.

These images were taken only a few hours after the apparent repair - you can already see erosion to the loose edging and how it is moving.
As noted previously, this took less than 40 minutes and I've seen better work from travelling contractors.
Is Ian Smith available to contact us to discuss this work, and also when the communications box is going to be repaired.
Many Thanks,
