As a local business having been open for over 22 yrs in the same shop we have seen a number of chances however about 3/4 yrs ago the council added electric bollards just a few shops down from us, as soon as this was done we started having issue with vehicles at the top of gold street, i have sent a number of e mail to KBC over the last few years warning them that there was going to be serious accidents and this has just fallen on deaf ears. Well yesterday it happened and a man has been seriously inquired and we are not sure at this time weather he is still alive. What i can tell you as i was one of the first at the scene. There are far to many vehicles using the top part of gold street, cars, vans and even lorry doing 3/4 point turns outside the from of our shop . Almost everyday there is a near miss and if something is not done now it will only be a matter of time before the next person is seriously injured or killed. The high ways department surely have an obligation to protect pedestrians. This matter need to look at urgently, before the next accident.
I think the bollards need to be moved to the top of the gold street and let men, women and children shop in safety.
