No 28 Hayway have erected a wrought iron fence

Sent to Northamptonshire Highways 2 minutes later. ref: 1736601.

We have just enlisted the help of a boundary surveyor regarding a shared boundary. The ordinance survey map he used showed that 28 Hayway have erected a wrought iron fence on their frontage that protrudes onto the Highway. He advised that they were in adverse possession of land, it is spoiling the line of the land and there could possibly be a covenant in place that prevents enclosure. It is also restricting our ability to turn into our drive. I have photos on another device that I can add to this report.

  • Thank you for the update. It is frustrating as access into our drive is difficult, causing us to cross over to other side of road to be able to swing into our drive. They have removed a hedge that has been in situ for over 40 years so currently we have a row of stumps whilst I assume this issue is being resolved. They have partially erected a wooden fence down the boundary and we are assuming there is legislation in place to prevent them continuing this fence down to the highway.

  • Plans to arrange a meeting in early 2021 have been put on hold due to the new lockdown and the policy ceasing all face-to-face meetings. Contact to arrange a new meeting will be made upon the loosening of these current restrictions.
