Aggregate on the road from properties abutting the highway
Reported in the Potholes / Highway Condition category anonymously at 10:53, Mon 2 September 2019
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways 3 minutes later. ref: 1752574.
Two properties in Braybrook have in the past year removed bituminous surfacing from their driveways which directly abutt the highway/carrigeway edge and replaced with what looks like 10-20mm cotswold stone.
The driveways slope steeply down to the road, so every time they use their access the stone spills out onto the carriageway.
This is dangerous for motor vehicles and cyclists, causing an obstrution in the highway and so encouraging vehicles to cross onto the opposing carriageway on approach to a bend with limited intervisibility, presenting a risk of head to head collisions whilst also presenting a risk of loss of control accidents to motor vehicles and cyclists (again hightened the fact this is on a bend) or damage/injury caused by flying debris.
To begin with the residents appeared to brush their stone off the highway and back onto their drives relatively frequently, but lately they appear to be leaving it on the highway.
I'd appreciate it if someone from highways could look into this matter and address it appropriately, in the interest of road safety.
