Collapsed bank and rubble over footpath
Reported in the Obstruction (Not Vegetation) category anonymously at 13:39, Thu 5 September 2019
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways 2 minutes later. ref: 1757126.
On the footpath that leads from John Clark Way up Bob Whitworth Way to Denfield primary school, the high level bank has collapsed and looks like continuing to collapse
Drop my child off at school today, and a rock fell off and nearly hit us
The bank is now over the foot path which make it difficult to get passed with a buggy or wheel chair, and you need to enter the road to pass
This issues has been there since June and is continuing to collapse
I have a big concern that this the continued rain and weather that the whole bank could collapse

Thank you for contacting Northamptonshire Highways. Following the partial failure of the timber criblock retaining walls adjacent to Bob Whitworth Way, and the subsequent structural inspection Northamptonshire Highways have had to close the road for safety reasons. Northamptonshire County Council have commissioned Northamptonshire Highways to undertake further investigations into the cause and determine the best course of action to remedy the situation. At present we cannot give definitive timescales as to how long the road will be closed for whilst we seek an appropriate solution and understand why the retaining walls have failed prematurely.

As a parent of children at Denfield Park Primary School I have a major concern for all the students safety at accessing the school due to the closure of one the main safe access points to the school gates. I understand there has been a breach in the wall in this area but we are yet to have a date of when this will be rectified? Or when work will commence? Due to this closure, it has had a huge impact on all the residents in the following streets Victoria Road leading on to the care home and its poor old residents and family members visiting them, Victoria Close Windsor Road And Denton Close. I have witnessed vehicles driving on the pavement trying to relieve the main Rectory Road from being impacted with backed up traffic as Victoria Road only has one lane to drive up/down.
I am aware that all students safety is at the foremost of all our minds but I was wondering that as the roundabout to the school gates from John Clark way has 4 lanes 2 are reserved for parking around the roundabout and 2 are for traffic flow, as the breach is only down a small section of the path, would it not be possible to close the path down the section along with its 2 lanes and a very large roundabout that will give the breach a very very wide berth and leaving the other side of the lanes and car park and another safe access to the school open which would relieve all the other streets and residents of this major inconvenience and safety impacts? I look forward to your reply.
