Large pot hole just before sharman road
Reported in the Potholes / Highway Condition category anonymously at 19:21, Mon 9 September 2019
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways 4 minutes later. ref: 1761824.
The pothole in question is situated on St James’ Road just before the left turn for Sharman Road directly outside of Church’s Factory shop. After going down the pot hole there was an almighty bang and after a few miles I noticed a strong pull to the left, so I pulled over to check my tyre to find it was completely flat and had damaged the paintwork on my alloys. I then proceeded to pump up the tyre which it would not do due to the fact I could hear a hissing noise coming from the tyre whilst trying to pump it up. I then tried to use my car puncture repair kit on the side of a busy road, with no success either. I ended up having to take the car to Kwikfit plus in Northampton to get a brand new tyre due to the extent of the damage on my tyre. This has cost me £76.99 which I shall be attaching the invoice to this email along with evidence of the pot hole and the damage that it has caused to my car. I will also have to get my alloys refurbished due to the damage that has been caused. Please take into consideration how costly this will be for me, through no fault of my own.
I would like to be reimbursed the cost of the tyre as well as the cost of refurbishing the alloy.
On further inspection of the particular pot hole I found that some attempt has been made to fix it, however it has been poorly done, and has actually caused further issues. You will see in the pictures provided the large dip with a sharp corner that has clearly caused damage to my tyre.
I also have a video of other cars driving over this pot hole so that you can hear the noise it makes when a car drives over it. Unfortunately the MB of the video is too large to send you via email so is there another way I can send it to you?
This pot hole is clearly unsafe and needs dealing with as soon as possible.
I hope to hear back from you soon to discuss this matter further.
Kind regards
