Sent to Northamptonshire Highways 4 minutes later. ref: 1766637.
The Protected Road verge (and many others in the area) has not been cut for two years, and is beginning to lose a number of locally uncommon plants. Local authorities and their contractors on roadsides are required to keep to their ‘Biodiversity Duties’ under the Natural Environment and Rural Communities’ Act 2006. Local authorities are also required to keep to Government targets by restoring and maintaining favourable condition for their roadside Local Wildlife Sites. Cutting and removing the vegetation plays a vital part is retaining diverse vegetation. I'd be very grateful if someone could contact me so that we can chat about how best to manage these important wildlife sites.
