Parking on the pavement

Reported in the Obstruction (Not Vegetation) category anonymously at 14:13, Thursday 19 September 2019

Sent to Northamptonshire County Council 2 minutes later. ref: 1773470.

This is the second instance i have reported recently at the same location. Previously i asked if double yellow lines could be painted on the corner of the entrance road to to the siemens site (unit 5). Access to the site for around 200 people is being limited by local companies parking on the pavement and on the corner of our entrance road. This restricts access/ is causing issues with traffic backing up along the road and more importantly cause several near accidents. As we attempt to exit our site we merge on to the main road we have to travel out into the centre of the road as we are blind to oncoming traffic due to the parking on the corner and pavement. I requested that the yellow lines be extended to resolve this dangerous area and this was denied. I am now asking if we can paint the yellow lines at no cost to the council? We have looked at other types of control but as the area is council controlled we are unable to influence the safetuy of our staff.

  • Thank you for your correspondence to Northamptonshire County Council’s Street Doctor service. In order for parking restrictions to be considered please visit the County Councils website using the following link https://www3.northamptonshire.gov.uk/ councilservices/ northamptonshire-highways/ parking/ Pages/ request-for-new-parking-restrictions.aspx to submit an application. As this area is public highway and a legal process has to be followed before parking restrictions can be implemented, we cannot allow individuals to paint lines on the highway.
