No sign to indicate change to two way traffic when exiting Rectory Rd on a right turn

Reported in the Damaged / Missing / Facing Wrong Way category anonymously at 12:04, Monday 23 September 2019

Sent to Northamptonshire County Council 2 minutes later. ref: 1777429.

Numerous cases of cars turning right from Rectory Road assuming it is still one way. I have witnessed two examples in the last ten days alone. Fortunately the pedestrian crossing had been activated in both cases so avoiding an accident. This has been several years with this problem, and some years ago when I tried to report it (before the by pass) I was told "not in our remit"

  • Thank you for letting us know about your concerns. Whilst I understand the reason for your concern, it is difficult to locate signs in a prominent position, as the traffic lights take precedence. If such a mistake is made, any traffic in Newton Road would have a red light, so would not be travelling towards the junction, which gives time for the error to be corrected. Collision data over the last 20 years does not indicate an issue here, however we will continue to monitor the situation to assess whether any further measures would be beneficial.

State changed to: No further action
