  • Thank you for your enquiry regarding possible maintenance required on a tree on Public Footpath RU20 in the parish of Paulerspury. From your Street Doctor Report dated 10th October 2019 we understand that you have concerns regarding a large tree, particularly relating to branches breaking off and possibly damaging property. Having carried out a site inspection of this Public Footpath it was found that the tree was not affecting the Public Right of Way and the route was clear and accessible for pedestrians to use. Within the Highways Act 1980 trees and side-growth adjacent to a Public Right of Way are the responsibility of the landowner. Northamptonshire Highways Rights of Way Team does not own any land over which a Right of Way passes. As the tree is not affecting access along Public Footpath RU20 and this department does not own it, we are afraid that we cannot carry out any works or give permission for the tree to be cut back.

State changed to: No further action
