Drains at bottom corner of Francis Row still not fixed.

Sent to Northamptonshire Highways 2 minutes later. ref: 1802254.
See Ref 1788488 1 October Home Farm Barn was flooded because the street drains unable to cope with heavy rain. Yesterday this case was closed because you said it had fixed the problem. One hour later there was heavy rain, mercifully for a short period, but it clearly showed problem had not been fixed. The current drainage system is clearly not up to the task and it needs a new permanent solution - better, bigger drains, acodrain? My neighbour' house suffered a flood inside their home on 1 October but it would have been worse if people had not been around to help brush flood water away from property and down footpath. If heavy rain happens at night it will take longer to react with possibly devastating consequences for their home. If heavy rain is prolonged, it may well also be disastrous. Also drain cover of second drain is broken. You should have received a report from the response team who came out at 6pm last night (Friday 11 October).

This is a picture of the flooding of our property at Home Farm Barn on 1 October showing a river flowing past and through our garage as a result of the inadequate street drain. Water also came in through our front house door causing damage to the hallway.
Flood water also entered our septic tank sewerage system in considerable volume.
Multiple visits have been made by NCC and others but the simple truth is that the drainage is inadequate for the level of run-off in storms. This needs an engineering solution not further jetting of an inadequate soakaway.
We have reported this problem several times and no tangible progress has been forthcoming.

Continued flooding indicates that the drainage system is clearly not fit for purpose/damaged beyond repair. Attempts to clear the drain have been unsuccessful and any heavy rainfall events (which are becoming more frequent) are resulting in flooding.

Huge puddle at the bottom of Francis Row due to drains being blocked. Flooded our neighbours house on 1.10. 19 and still not fixed. More rain to come and flooding looks likely again. Neighbours are away at the moment. Please could you fix this?

Further photos showing impact of recent flooding reaching above threshold of front door of Home Farm Barn and spilling (initially) into hallway, before tracking into bathroom, utility room and larder. Wet damage caused to floor level joinery and door.

Currently we have identified a breakage in the outfall pipe which would appear to go down the public right of way i have asked our subcontratcor to price a repair.

NCC thanks for the update. I must emphasise this is an urgent situation.
These pictures show the relevant drains just at the point of overflowing after around 20-30 minutes of light-moderate rain this afternoon. A sharp downpour will now lead to property flooding within roughly the same timescale.

Is there any further progress on sourcing a repair to the drainage? We continue to be very concerned about flooding and ingress of heavy water to our septic tank.

We are anxious about this corner of Francis Row, particularly our neighbour's property which could be at risk of flooding, when we have another deluge. When will the drain be fixed? Also when the road floods, it covers the fire hydrant cover. We always have to listen out to the intensity of the rain, in case it becomes very heavy, and check that this corner is not flooding.

Workmen were present on site for most of the day on 5th December (or possibly 4th) and did mechanical excavations around the supposed blockage/broken area of the pipe servicing this drain. Nobody locally has any idea what they were doing TBH.
Today has seen the first substantial rain since then and, again, within two hours the drains were overflowing and the consequent “pool” starting to empty into adjacent properties.
The frustration is that we’ve probably had seven separate investigation, excavation, camera and clearance teams out so far this year. If the equivalent cash was spent on installing a proper outfall pipe for the drain they need never call again. As it is we are unfortunately looking forward to the next property flood.
