Flooding issues on Broad Lane Evenley (particularly outside 26 & 28)

Reported in the Blocked/Damaged category anonymously at 15:59, Mon 14 October 2019

Sent to Northamptonshire County Council 2 minutes later. ref: 1804606.

Broad Lane continues to suffer from inadequate drainage. This was reduced a little with the introduction of a gulley outside one of the properties and the raising of kerbs along broad lane a couple of years ago; but recently the flooding has started again. Drains are saturated and all the soakaways along Broad lane fill almost straight away. The water is then breaching the raised kerbs outside number 26,28 resulting in a near catastrophe at 28 Broad lane yesterday (see photo) where you can see that the front porch area is flooded and only a few millimetres from breaching the front door. It is also now breaching outside another property and not all water is making it through the new gulley and into the Church Leys drain. This is a massive issue as heavy rain is due for the next eight hours.

  • We had bad flooding yesterday at 28 Broad Lane. the rain water came up to the threshold of our front door and went into the graage. It is caused by a backing up of the water along the street that is not flowing properly.

  • I live at No 20 Broad Lane and my late husband had previous correspondence regarding flooding of our drive and garage. Work was done to raise the kerb but this has not helped. During the recent heavy rainfall, the drain overflowed again and water came down my drive and into the garage. All the leaves from the trees on Broad Lane are washed down the lane and end up backing up the drain outside my house. The detritus then comes down my drive. We need more efficient drainage. If you look at our previous correspondence, you will see we attached photographs and the same thing is happening again.

  • Problems continue today 9/11/19 along broad lane. Some flooding at 28 and kerbs breached at 30, 20 and further down broad lane. Can you send drainline to clean gullies and soak aways again. There is a lot of leaf litter and build up in the gullies that is reducing the flow; might help in the short term but don't think this is a long term solution. M Baul Parish Councillor.

  • Sir I have had to manually sweep out the roadside drain along broad lane this morning to prevent further flooding risk. CAN YOU PLEASE attend and clear the road side drain. Can you also look at the Gully that is reported above; outside no 20. This morning it looked like it is not flowing. It is probably full of leaf litter and blocked so all the work you did to aid water movement has been wasted at the moment. PLEASE INFORM US WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND WHEN PLEASE. I would not like to have to report actual property damage when there is this clear trail of prior reporting to you and I would not like to think of the PERSONAL RISK I am taking sweeping your roads in the earlier hours of the morning.
