Traffic light timing means cars unable to exit hospital site
Reported in the Request Timing Review category anonymously at 17:52, Monday 21 October 2019
Sent to Northamptonshire County Council 3 minutes later. ref: 1813750.
Traffic is very backed up on clifftonville road meaning that traffic can't get off the hospital site. Only a couple of cars can get off the site when the lights changes due to cars being backed up across the traffic lights. This means a huge backlog of cars in the hospital and it can therefore take 15-30mins to get off the hospital site at busy times. The real cause is probably the lights at the bottom of clifftonville road not allowing sufficent traffic through which results in a huge queue of cars back up clifftonville road past the hospital. It's been going on for years so both sets of lights at the bottom of clifftonville road and the set at the hospital site need aligning to cope with traffic.

Thank you for contacting Northamptonshire Highways. There has been a significant increase in the amount of traffic using both the Cliftonville Road and surrounding junctions. Junctions improvement works are being planned in Early 2020 to improve capacity at these junctions. We remotely monitor the operation of the signals and no specific fault has been identified. An engineer has been requested to attend site to check the operation of the detection.
