My name is Raks Chahal and I work for Bromford Housing. This flood issue has been ongoing since 2017. We met with a representative from Southbrook School (Steve Bond) to inspect the area concerned where we have the flooding issues along the boundary to the school. The school had located some drains which were blocked on their playground which is on higher ground and had these cleared, however this has not resolved the flooding issue and our properties on Woodward Close, namely 5&6 Woodward Close, continue to have flood issues. Our customer at No6 has an external gas meter which is located at ground level however during heavy rainfall this gets flooded along with the driveway. Internet cables have to be installed at high level due to the flood issues. Our customer also can not have a smart meter installed due to the flooding causing the electrics to short. Having a review of the number of drains that are located on Woodward Close, these appear to be a very minimum number and therefore do not drain the rainwater effectively from the road - there are no drains installed near the boundary wall to the school. My view is that further investigations should be made to the drainage in the area and additional drains installed to reduce the risk of flooding. I hope to hear from you soon. Regards, Raks Chahal

-
Thank you for your enquiry - Northamptonshire Highways are only responsible for disposal of water which falls upon the highway. Having inspected the road in question there would appear to be sufficent capacity for this purpose. From the photographs given it is obvious that this water is coming from the school over the boundary wall onto your property without crossing the Highway. We would suggest that this is a matter for you to continue to try to resolve with them. There would be no possibility of additional works by ourselves. If you wish to discuss this issue further please contact the Area Highways Manager on 01604 883400.
