Traffuc signals at Queen Eleanor
Reported in the Request Timing Review category anonymously at 16:11, Sat 9 November 2019
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways 4 minutes later. ref: 1839192.
The traffic signals on A45,westbound exit at Queen Eleanor do not allow sufficient traffic to leave A45. Traffic queues on A45,all the way into Brackmills Industrial Estate. This is dangerous and there will be an accident on A45 soon. Please see the attached photo and the recent article in Northampton Chronicle. Something must be done about this now as the proposed works in January will not solve the problem.

Thank you for contacting Northamptonshire Highways. An intermittent issue has been identified with one of the detectors at the top of slip road which has now been replaced. We have monitored the junction since Monday and the signals are operating correctly. The A45 slip is receiving 45 seconds of green out of Total of 65 seconds with the other 20 seconds going to the gyratory. Increasing this any further would impact on traffic approaching from Mereway which already queues significantly. The queen Eleanor roundabout is being upgraded in January 2020, which will provide additional capacity at the junction and also included the latest control technology. As you can appreciate the Brackmills traffic volume is significant at peak times of the day with the majority of businesses all finishing at the same time which puts a significant strain on the network. We continuously monitor the Junction by CCTV from our Traffic control centre and intervene where we can.
