Overgrown / unsafe hedge line including trees.
Reported in the Restricted Visibility / Overgrown / Overhanging category anonymously at 09:21, Tue 19 November 2019
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways 4 minutes later. ref: 1851270.
Yesterday we reported a fallen tree that was blocking the highway 40 yards up the road from the Church at NN12 8DU and we would like to thank your team for a very quick response to this problem.
However, we believe that there is a bigger underlying problem in that, for about 100 yards up this road, there is a hedge that has been neglected for at least 20 years such that it is now a mixture of overgrown hedge interspersed with a number of trees that have grown to a great height. Within this hedge/row of trees we know that there is a fair amount of dead wood.
It has been, for some time, our considered opinion, confirmed by the tree that fell yesterday, that this hedge/row of trees may be unsafe and, with winter gales and potential snow fall possible, there is a risk that more quite weighty vegetation could fall on the highway and could include persons or vehicles.
Could investigate our concerns and, if valid, either provide us with some back-up report with which we could approach the owner to ensure that he carries out the necessary maintenance to the hedge, or if possible could you contact the land owner to get them to take action.
