Traffic light timing incorrect

Reported in the Request Timing Review category anonymously at 14:29, Tuesday 19 November 2019

Sent to Northamptonshire County Council 2 minutes later. ref: 1853258.

If approaching from Montagu Street to turn right into Eskdaill Street the green traffic light doesn't stay on long enough and sometimes the green arrow doesn't come on at all to turn right. This ends up with vehicles stuck in the middle causing issues for traffic turning left into Montagu Street from Eskdaill Street. Have seen this happens several times and have been involved in it.

  • Thank you for contacting Northamptonshire Highways. We have arranged for an engineer to visit site and test the operation of the detection at this location. There is a right turn arrow provided for drivers to turn right at this location however this requires drivers to move forward into the waiting are in the centre of the junction when the full green is shown. The arrow will only appear if several vehicles are waiting as single vehicles are expected to make the turn if there is a gap in the oncoming traffic or complete the turn once the signals have gone to red as they have already crossed the stop line to take up the position to turn right in the centre of the junction. Drivers are permitted to do this under Highway code rule 176.

State changed to: No further action
