No gritting around junction of Rugby Road/Barby Lane/Onley Lane

There has been an accident this morning at the notorious dangerous bend and the roads are very icy and slippy. No gritting appears to have taken place.

Gritter was sent and there is also a grit bin close by for self help on the highway

Hi 5 cars have now gone off the road in this location. Junction of Onley Lane and Barby Lane at the bottom of cart hill. Grit Bin needs URGENTLY FILLING This is a NCC grit bin. If this route is not routinely gritted, please review your policy. Thanks

If you are not going to grit this junction then you need to provide alternative protection to prevent cars from ending up in the deep ditch.

Perhaps it’s time to install a crash barrier.

There have been many accidents over the years around this bend/junction. It’s not long ago that there was a near fatal accident when a car crashed into the ditch and caught fire. It was only the prompt intervention from a person in a passing vehicle who managed to drag the driver out, who suffered severe burns and other injuries, that saved his life.
