SP473 513 - Insecure handrail on plank bridge

Reported in the Stile-Damaged/Missing category anonymously at 12:36, Fri 29 November 2019

Sent to Northamptonshire County Council 4 minutes later. ref: 1867972.

SP473 513 - this is the double stile that is mentioned in the walk route Section B as "take small plank bridge and double stile (in poor condition) in top left corner. (Take care, the wooden handrail is very insecure)." In my opinion it is now potentially dangerous and very difficult to get into and out of. Anyone walking alone could easily fall and be left stranded. It should be completely replaced. Also: SP472 512 - this stile noted is very close to the above double stile "crossing the scrub to take further stile into next field". Both stile uprights are wobbly and it is sensible to ask for this to be repaired at the same time as the double stile because they are within 100 metres of each other.

  • Thank you for your enquiry. Footpath AC1 in the parish of Lower Boddington was inspected on 3-12-19. A site meeting has been undertaken with the landowner. The single strand of barbed wire fence before the stile will be removed from the line of the footpath. The old structure will be removed and 2 new stiles will be installed in each fence line. A letter has been sent requesting that this work is undertaken by the landowner by 31st January 2020.
