Traffic light phasing has changed causing significant holdups
Reported in the Request Timing Review category anonymously at 08:18, Tue 3 December 2019
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways 2 minutes later. ref: 1872235.
The traffic light phasing on the Round Spinney roundabout has changed, so that when travelling south from Kettering, the morning (pre-7am) queues now reach back to the Moulton Shell station roundabout. Until a couple of weeks ago, when the lights were green to allow you on to the roundabout, they were also green to allow you straight down Lumbertubs Way, but this is now no longer the case, and the traffic backs up causing upwards of a ten minute delay, and that is at pre-rush hour periods. I do appreciate that necessary road works are in progress around that area, but cannot see why they should require a change to the previous light phasing.

Thank you for contacting Northamptonshire Highways. An engineer will attend site and investigate the operation of the signals. As you are already aware there are major works taking place in the location which has resulted in the detectors being damaged which will have an impact on the operation of the signals. Additionally the A43 Approach from Moulton has been reduced to 2 lanes which has reduced the available capacity of the junction. We monitor this Junction via CCTV from our traffic control centre and have been making adjustments to help improve the situation.
