What is being done about the Corby Road? With more rain forecast are we Gretton residents supposed to put up with a detour via Rockingham every day for work. This situation is unacceptable after more than four weeks!

We are still having to drive via rockingham road to get to Corby which is a longer journey and cost more on petrol. I think after 6 weeks there would’ve have been some progress. As this road is closed more vehicles are using this route, including buses and lorries. This road is a lot smaller and and it’s becoming dangerous in places to pass due to pot a large pot hole just before the bridge. The local farmer has helped keep floods on this road at bay , the best he can but whilst digging the drenches deeper it’s caused mounds and tracks, cars are rubbing against these mounds which are now causing mud slip on the road. I feel with problems on both roads with reports of cars breaking down, punctured etc I feel this will not get sorted till their is a fatal accident happening. I have seen emails sent to people regarding this problem that is effecting not just Gretton, priors hall, harringworth etc and we feel we are being fobbed of with lame excuses.
Awaiting on a positive outcome, fix to this dilemma
Kind regards Jacqueline kay

Quick question. Just wondering when the gretton brook road is likely to be fixed. I am currently having to make an hour round trip to get to Corby via Rockingham when it should only take 15 minutes. This in itself is a nuisance but the state of that road with the huge potholes and mud on the road is extremely dangerous, add to that the lorries and vans that hurtle along there at stupid speeds I’m surprised someone hasn’t had a bad accident or even worse. The state of it these last few weeks is shocking and myself and other gretton residents now feel that there should be something done to rectify it. Are we likely to get a rebate on our council tax or something towards the extra fuel and wear and tear on our vehicles that this is causing.

Who do I send my doubled petrol bill to?? It is costing me £60 a week just to get my kids to and from school having to go from the old village right over to rockingham. We are a low income family on he run up to Christmas with 4 children. It needs draining and resolving NOW! It’s not fair on anyone.

Perhaps the excavation of a short trench across the top of the hill, using the line of the existing ditch, might aleviate the problem

Obviously not digging out the blocked ditch across the field was a mistake ???
