Public footpath flooded for approx 20 meters making it impassible in standard walking foot wear.
Reported in the Passage-Obstructed/Overgrown category anonymously at 14:20, Mon 9 December 2019
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways 5 minutes later. ref: 1880800.
The photograph attached was taken at 10.54am on Monday 9th December 2019. Path is clearly not drying out as NCC inspection posted on 3rd December 2019, original FixMyStreet ref 1853296. We have experienced moderate rainfall within the week since NCC inspection and the footpath is yet again impassible in regular walking footwear. This matter clearly needs more urgent investigation as the winter progresses. I would suggest the planning application, and subsequent goundworks, have contributed significantly to the problem. The ground level to the adjacent site has been levelled and raised, the dike between the footpath and site has been filled with out drainage piping. As a consequence the footpath is now retaining water as acting drainage ditch. The planning application reference is 19/00355FUL, there is no drawing supplied with this application showing a grid of existing and proposed levels. Only a landscaping drawing showing new planting along the boundary, show in application 19/01268 CND

The footpath is impassable on foot. There is definitely a problem here. Some residents of Kings Cliffe who normally walk through the woods this way are having to drive to Fineshade car park and pay a parking fee to access the woods. The path is a public right of way and needs sorting out. It has never flooded like this before.

I tried to access King's Cliffe via the path to the old wood yard last weekend (28 Dec 19) and it is impossible to walk through the 30cms deep water in normal shoes. Please can something be done to sort out the drainage here as a matter of urgency. It is a public footpath, yet is currently impassable by foot, and I did not have my dinghy with me!
