ACO Channel drain not connected and is seeping in to basement at 34 Sheaf Street causing damp damage.
Reported in the Blocked/Damaged category anonymously at 15:15, Mon 9 December 2019
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways 1 minute later. ref: 1880905.
My attention has been bought to the area of the ingress of water at 34 Sheaf St. basement and area where the ACO drain ends (at the Sheaf Street end). The ACO channel drain does not have anywhere for the rain water to go as it is not connected to the main drain and rain water is left to evaporate or more significantly overlflow and lay in the channel seeping out at the point of the ACO channel drain that has no fitted end (Sheaf Street end). There are two points where the ACO channel drain should be connected at each end of the drain grid. Please see photos attached. The ACO drian is filling up then eventually emptying its self by way of channelling into the cellar below Timpsons. Please see photo attached of the damaged of rot that has taken over most of the plaster board on the beam shown in the picture. There is a lot of damaged caused by the way the ACO drain and it is getting worse in the basement.. Further to my investigation, at the end where the water ingress has been entering the basement at the exact location of the ACO channel drain Sheaf St. end, there is an 8mm gap from the infill end that is clearly not effective and the pavement has subsided by 30mm. Water seeping to basement here. Drain needs connecting to mains 2' away.
