Potholes Along Roadworks A4500 - Northampton
Reported in the Potholes / Highway Condition category anonymously at 08:23, Wed 11 December 2019
Sent to Northamptonshire County Council 2 minutes later. ref: 1883157.
There are several severe potholes along both the eastbound and westbound side of the A4500 in the roadworks area. As these potholes are in the main driving lane (as other lane is blocked by cones) there is no way of avoiding them and they could cause a serious incident. Please can something be done urgently as these potholes are unavoidable and if hit, a vehicle would have to stop in the only live lane, thus creating a serious risk of subsequent collision and blocking entire side of A4500 - a main route into Northampton. Surely the contractors for the development which is causing* all the lane closures in this area have a bucket of tarmac handy? As at 8.12.19.
Thank you for reporting a fault. We will use the information you have provided to assess and prioritise this fault in accordance with our published response times for fault reports.

The potholes have formed due to the erosion of the backfill in the trenches that have been dug to facilitate the roadworks. The recent wet weather is making them worse on a daily basis and now need to be repaired as a matter of urgency.
