The problem still persists and does not appear to have been addressed. The flood on the pavement and road is still present two days after the latest rainfall.

These photos were taken today after two days of drizzly rain. Whilst you may consider there are no defects that warrant intervention this is a big cause for concern for local residents. The elderly couple who live at 207 have difficulty getting in and out of their car as the flood is right outside their property. No maintenance has been carried out on the tree for over a year and the branches are encroaching on properties and overhead telephone lines. The gutter is flooded for five to six metres and goes to the middle of the road causing big splashes to pedestrians. When is the matter going to be addressed? it is now several months since your original lame response.

Currently no defects that would warrant intervention under safety criteria. No flooding to property. Standing water will be assessed for inclusion in patching program later in the year. There are no safety issues associated with this ponding and as previously we are looking at what may be done long term to alleviate ponding in this area. Trees are maintained on a cyclic basis by Kettering Borough council and currently there are no issues that would warrant early intervention in their maintenance cycle. Highways Switchboard is available on 01604 883400.

Despite your refusal to do anything about the obstructed drain due to the tree roots having lifted the kerb I wish to point out that the elderly and infirm residents at 207 Neale Avenue (who have poor mobility) have to attend their GP surgery three times a week and have to get in and out of their car through this flood which is directly outside their property. If you continue to refuse to address this issue I shall contact the local press. These pictures were taken this morning after a short period of light rainfall. You can see that the flood is over the pavement and is not restricted to the road as you have previously mentioned. It will now be present for several days. Would you like to access your car through a flood outside your own house after paying Council tax your entire lives?

Despite this status having been changed to ‘Under further investigation’ by you on 13th August nothing at all has been done. The situation is getting worse and is now compounded by falling leaves which are left in the middle of the road by the Council’s roadsweeping vehicle. The elderly residents at 207 find it difficult to access their garage which they have to do at least three times a week for GP visits and nurse’s dressings. I will go to the local press if nothing is done soon. Kettering Borough Council and Northamptonshire CC have been made aware of this problem several times over the last few years and yet nothing has been done. It is a disgrace on the part of both Councils and if the kerb cannot be realigned so that the rainfall drains properly then the tree needs to be felled.
