No "do not parkl in the grid" signage on road
Reported in the Damaged / Missing / Facing Wrong Way category anonymously at 14:46, Tue 14 January 2020
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways 5 minutes later. ref: 1937191.
On Saints match days pre match traffic cannot turn right into the VIP Car park as the road is congested with traffic. Likewise, post match traffic cannot turn out of the VIP Car Park due to the same reason. There needs to be a "do not block the box" grid on the road surface to make access/egress more efficient and safer.

Thank you for your enquiry. Often, as in this case, with the haste to get to/from the Northampton Saints Rugby Football Ground during match days, we disregard courtesy and respect for other drivers, especially during ‘rush hour’. It is regrettable that in our hurried up lifestyles, common etiquette is seldom observed and drivers can often unintentionally block other vehicles and from entering or exiting Weedon Road. Consequently we do understand the frustration that this can cause with traffic congestion for drivers in trying to negotiate the turning during the peak traffic times at this location. In addition to this, unlike specific road traffic enforcement laws that are monitored by cctv in cities such as central London, the painting of a yellow box on the road would unlikely to have any affect and may even have the tendency to cause further delays by not maximising use of what is very scarce and essential carriageway space. Nevertheless from a police enforcement aspect, if we were indeed granted permission by the Chief Constable to paint a yellow box at this location, a precedent would be set and we would then find it difficult to refuse further applications from other similar busy public venues and junctions in Northampton and across our county. Unfortunately at a time of budget pressures on the County Council the maintenance costs involved would have to be considered, as well as it being resource limiting and expensive to administer.
