Experiencing "near misses" daily because drivers are deviating out of their lane
Reported in the Road Markings - Worn/Faded category anonymously at 21:22, Tuesday 4 February 2020
Sent to Northamptonshire County Council 4 minutes later. ref: 1979575.
The road markings at the junction of Nine Arches Way and Bridge Street are very faded. As you drive along Bridge Street, past Buildbase, and approach Nine Arches Way you must drive into the "turn right" lane to access the Nine Arches Way housing estate. Partly due to the road markings being faded (but also due to vehicles being parked outside Buildbase and Scotts) drivers travelling from the bridge and towards the High street are encroaching into this "turn right" lane. Almost every day, upon driving into this "turn right" lane to enter the Nine Arches Way housing estate, I am faced with vehicles driving towards me and I am forced to take avoiding action to prevent a head on collision. These drivers are not driving within their lane and are instead driving over the faded hash markings into the "turn right" lane. I know of other drivers who are experiencing the same problem on a regular basis. It is a road collision waiting to happen.
If the road markings could be repainted I would hope that this would go someway to remind drivers of where their vehicles should be positioned.
