Verge churned up by lorries. Horrendous mud and ruts
Reported in the Verges - Damaged by Vehicles category anonymously at 12:08, Sat 8 February 2020
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways 3 minutes later. ref: 1985797.
Lorries delivering to shops in Edinburgh square continually churn up the grass verges especially on the junction of Greenhill crescent with Queens Road. The resultant mud is all over the pavements and road, which then gets spread further by vehicles. This is a total eyesore for everyone. If the vehicles making the deliveries can’t make the turn without crossing onto the verge - Then we need a permanent solution. Thank you

Thank you for your query to Northamptonshire County Council’s Street Doctor Service with regard to delivery vehicles overrunning the verge at the junction of Greenhill Crescent / Queens Road, Daventry. The damage to the verge has been reported to our maintenance section for their attention. With regard to larger vehicles turning out of the loading area at the rear of the shops there should be sufficient room for larger vehicles to make this manoeuvre without over-running this section of verge. What appears to be happening is that vehicles are parking right upto the junction with the loading bay area which is restricting delivery vehicles turning in and out of the access forcing them to drive onto the verge. In situations like this we can introduce parking restrictions (i.e. double yellow lines) to keep the immediate junction clear of parked vehicles so we will put this location forward for the introduction of such restrictions.
