Reported in the Road Markings - Worn/Faded category anonymously at 18:30, Thu 20 February 2020
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways 5 minutes later. ref: 2011688.
Yellow Zig Zag Lines This junction used to have the yellow zigzag lines before the road was resurfaced, drivers are forever sitting waiting in traffic blocking the flow of traffic, this had to be a concern for the emergency services too. Do you know if the lines are going to be replaced ?

Often in our haste to get into work or heading home we disregard courtesy and respect for other drivers, especially during ‘rush hour’. It is regrettable that in our hurried up lifestyles, common etiquette is seldom observed and drivers can often unintentionally block other vehicles, as in this case from entering or exiting a road junction. Consequently we do understand the frustration that this can cause with traffic congestion for drivers in trying to negotiate the turning at the peak traffic times. Unlike specific road traffic enforcement laws that are monitored by cctv in cities such as central London, the repainting of a yellow box on the intersection of Victoria Promenade/Cheyne Walk and Derngate/Bedford Road in central Northampton would unlikely to have any affect and may even have the tendency to cause further delays by not maximising use of what is very scarce and essential carriageway space. In addition to this, if we were granted permission by the Chief Constable to repaint a yellow box at this junction, a precedent would be set and we would then find it difficult to refuse further applications from other similar busy junctions and roundabouts in Northampton and across our county. At a time of budget pressures on the County Council the maintenance costs involved would have to be considered, as well as it being resource limiting and expensive to administer.
