Pathway left unfinished with potholes etc after roadworks
Reported in the Pothole / Failed Reinstatement category anonymously at 12:51, Wed 11 March 2020
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways 5 minutes later. ref: 2055195.
Following the extensive roadworks at the junction of Barton Road and Warkton Lane, we are very disappointed that although the majority of the footpath either side of our house has been resurfaced, Whitemountain (Breedon Group) have left without doing ours ie 80 Barton Road. (I note that there are also three other houses which haven’t been done ie 74, 76 and 78.) I have attached two photographs outside our house so you can see the terrible state it is in with pot holes etc. I have tried to contact Whitemountain directly, once by telephone (early Feb) and twice by email (on 9 Feb and then 20 Feb) to the contacts we were given during the works, but have had no response. We have endured months of disruption and inconvenience getting in and out of our property to be left with the pathway in the state it is. We believe this is most unfair and in our opinion is unsafe and has devalued our property, if it is left like it is, when compared to the majority of other houses in the road. We have certainly lost “kerb appeal”. Could you please arrange for the work to be completed before someone injures themselves. Thank you

Thankyou for contacting the County Council regarding the footway works on Barton Road. On inspecting the plans for the work the footway link outside your property is outside of the extents of the developers work for the warkton lane junction. Therefore they are still under the maintenance of the County Council and there is no requirement on the developer to resurface the footpath. However this being said your comments have been forwarded to the developer and the site inspector to be borne in mind should further maintenance in the area become necessary in the area that they are responsible for to see if a co-ordinated repair can take place.
