Overgrown bridleway impassable
Reported in the Passage-Obstructed/Overgrown category anonymously at 14:58, Mon 11 May 2020
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 2112345.
This has been a problem for a long time at least 2 to 3 tears going by the amount of tree growth and as it’s an offence to block a bridleway this should have been seen to long before now

I note the earlier report by another user. My party of two walkers tried to walk bridleways FA3 and VB3 over Borough Hill today from east to west. Totally overgrown section westward from SP 59212 61788 which is completely impassable (photos 1 and 2)- the adjacent fence has been breached and a parallel path mown into the grassy meadow some 15m to the north. But attempts to rejoin the correct PROW at SP 58744 61688 stymied by the intact barbed wire fence - eventually managed to rejoin at SP 58509 61730 where someone has tied back top layer of barbs. But then still very overgrown continuing westwards as far as SP 58159 61858 - it was difficult though not impassable for walkers (photo 3). But it would be impossible for horses throughout its length.

7-10-20 myself and two fellow walkers tried to do this walk today and had to turn back owing to it being impassable no attempt has been made to clear it since reported in May The government are putting money into foot paths but existing rights of way are not being maintained. Trevor Boor

Thanks for reporting this and apologies for the delay in getting back to you, this route has had some problems with trying to get it cleared which is all to do with a badger sett that is quite large along the route and has stopped all work until we determine how to get around the problem by either closing part of the sett or diverting the path. Thanks and please be patient as this is not a speedy process to overcome.
