Timing too quick dangerous to cyclists & walkers
Reported in the Request Timing Review category anonymously at 15:27, Tue 19 May 2020
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 2121506.
Rode across this junction twice in the last week from Grendon/whiston towards Earls Barton. Both times I have been the first person waiting at the traffic lights when they turn green. There is not enough time to get to the other side without the traffic lights having already changed for oncoming traffic

Thank you for contacting Northamptonshire Highways. A footpath is provided for pedestrians to cross the bridge and as such there is no allowance made within the signal timings. Pedestrians walking in the carriageway do so at their own risk. With regard to cyclists, there is a period of up to 50 seconds between changes where the signals will remain on red. This operates using detectors located throughout the length of the bridge. These will detects cyclists travelling at a steady pace of 2.5mph on the carriageway extending the all red period up to 50 seconds when required. An engineer has attended site and checked the operation of the detection and observed the extensions operating when cyclists present.
