Traffic lights from Bradshaw St into Drapery

Reported in the Signal Failure category anonymously at 13:35, Tuesday 2 June 2020

Sent to Northamptonshire County Council less than a minute later. ref: 2139100.

The red signal is significantly longer than it should be when coming out of Bradshaw St and into the Drapery. The lights do not change to green, habitually, for longer than 5 minutes. Whilst during busy traffic times on the Drapery this could be just, this is also happening early morning and late evening when the heavier flow is from Bradshaw St. I have been in Taxis over the last few weeks from Bounds and they have had to jump the red light on several occasions because I have been charged and extra £1.50 in fare. Buses are also jumping red lights because of this.

  • Thank you for contacting Northamptonshire Highways. An engineer has inspected the site and is unable to find any faults. This junction has detection located within the centre that will hold signals on red if vehicles are still present to cater for buses making the right turn. This has recently be exacerbated by the presence of the Water repairs. Whilst monitoring the site we have noticed on several occasions that vehicles do not always pull up to the white line which will cause a delay in the signals changing as vehicles topping too far back will not activate the detection.
