Driving to work each day between Maidford and Blakesley I have noticed a lot of activity in creating a gateway opposite Blakelsey Heath farm (marked on the enclosed map). Having lived in this area for quite some time there has never been a gateway in this position and I also know that permission for a gate in this spot has been refused previously due to the gate being too close to the bend and therefore in a dangerous location. I know from experience that people drive very quickly on this stretch of road which is relatively straight - particularly in the Maidford direction where the bend is positioned after a long piece of ‘ straight ‘. The smaller gate currently in place has been positioned - presumably in preparation for creating a larger gate. I think the new gateway is a tactical addition with the aim to provide vehicle access to the new dwelling (also shown on the drawing). This is unnecessary as there is already access to the site through an existing gateway (also shown on the attached map). I wanted to flag up my concerns about the gate and draw your attention to it. As a daily user of the road my greatest concern is the danger this gateway poses to drivers leaving the gateway and drivers on the road itself. I have attached a link to a street view taken from August 2011 demonstrating a gateway was not present. Please confirm receipt of my submission and if you could notify me of the action taken it would be greatly appreciated.
