Pavement completely overgrown as usual Nos 1-3 Kendal Close facing Barrington Road
Reported in the Restricted Visibility / Overgrown / Overhanging category anonymously at 12:36, Thu 2 July 2020
Sent to Northamptonshire Highways less than a minute later. ref: 2182611.
Every year same problem along Barrington Road, particularly 1-3 Kendal Close. Many dangerous barbed plants hanging over. Paths completely overgrown/overhung in places. Highways/local council never do anything when I have reported this for many years. Tree outside No.3 Kendal Close (facing Barrington Rd) so low, unable to walk under. Pathways obstructed as much as if cars were parked on pavements. The owners need a deterrent to stop this happening every year. Not sure how a partially sighted person, or wheelchair user would manage!!! PLEASE TAKE FIRM ACTION WITH ALL HOUSE OWNERS if council unable to cut back. Many areas of Barrington Road have similar problem. Looks a mess. Fed up reporting every year.

I'm sorry to hear that your inspector thinks the footpath is accessible. It is definitely NOT under the tree outside No. 1 Kendal Close (I incorrectly said No.3 previously), unless you are only about 4ft high!!! I have seen many pedestrians either bend down or walk quite far out on the grass verge to pass it. And still various hedges all along Barrington Road have grown far over the pavements, with long, often very prickly, shoots hanging face/jacket height. Please explain why footpath obstructions are not taken as seriously as road obstructions. I feel pedestrians are ignored, surprising considering we are all encouraged to walk instead of driving! Perhaps gravelling over some of the grassed areas could be a solution if you are unable to get the owners to do what they should be doing to keep adjacent footpaths free. I will continue to monitor on behalf of all local pedestrians.

The main pavement outside 1 Kendal Close is inaccessible and the public have to walk halfway across the grass due to overgrown foliage and overhanging branches. Please would someone come and sort it out? The grass has been cut between the pavement and the road; it’s a shame someone didn’t comment then because they clearly must have had to bend down on the mower.

Still no action since my first report this year back in July. And has now got even worse. I will pursue further if not dealt with soon. I'm not asking for council to do work but to get home owners to be responsible .
